The Humfrey Lecture 2010

'The Scilly Isles and its Wildlife'

Will Wagstaff

Will Wagstaff our guest speaker for this years Humfrey Lecture delighted members with his interesting and informative talk on 'The Scilly Isles and its Wildlife'. Will lives on St. Marys and in the past has been Conservation Officer and Bird Recorder for the islands. He now spends the summer months taking visitors on wildlife walks and boat trips round the islands and in the winter is in demand by cruise companies as a speaker and consultant on cruise ships to the Antarctic and other remote regions.

For almost two hours members were transported by Will's expert commentary and amazing photography on a tour of the islands wildlife, flora and fauna and archeological sites together with the stunning scenery for which the islands are renowned.

The lecture encompassed so many of the subjects that interest us in our Society and was warmly received by the large audience several of whom are regular visitors to the islands and others expressing an interest in visiting at the earliest opportunity.

Our thanks to Will and to those responsible for organising another hugely successful Humfrey Lecture.

Jo Underwood,
Past NNHS President.
