Discover the fascinating hidden world of rocks and minerals in this hands-on geology and microscopy session with Bob Purser at the NNHS Humfrey Rooms Northampton.

Bob will demonstrate how microscopes are used in geology to examine rocks, minerals, crystals and their structures, revealing details that simply cannot be seen with the naked eye. You’ll be able to explore geological specimens under the microscope and discover how their textures, crystals and mineral content can provide clues to how different rocks were formed.

Have an interesting rock or mineral at home? Bring along a small sample and take a closer look. Bob will be on hand to help examine and identify specimens and answer your geology and microscopy questions.

This practical session is suitable for complete beginners as well as anyone interested in geology, rocks and minerals, microscopy, mineral identification or the natural sciences. No previous experience is needed, and visitors and non-members are very welcome.
