Discover the extraordinary world of insects under the microscope at this hands-on microscopy meeting in our very own Humfrey Rooms in Northampton.
Following his very successful series of practical sessions last year, Kevin Rowley returns to explore more of the fascinating details of insect anatomy. Using microscopes and specimens, we’ll take a close look at some of the remarkable structures that allow insects to see, feed, move and sense the world around them – including compound eyes, mouthparts, wings, legs, antennae and other tiny features that are easily missed by the naked eye.
Kevin will guide us through what we are seeing and share practical tips for examining and understanding insect specimens under the microscope.
Whether you are an experienced microscopist, interested in insects, entomology or natural history, thinking about taking up microscopy, or simply curious to discover a hidden world, you are very welcome to come along.
Never used a microscope before? Absolutely no problem. No previous experience is needed, microscopes can be provided if required, and our experienced members will be on hand to guide complete beginners through everything they need to know. Just come along and have a go!
