Bring along your own leaves and discover the remarkable microscopic world hidden inside these seemingly simple structures.

Led by Mike Asquith, this hands-on microscopy session will explore the fascinating structure of leaves and reveal some of the features that are normally invisible to the naked eye. Take a closer look at plant cells, stomata and other microscopic details, and discover how leaves are adapted to carry out photosynthesis, exchange gases and regulate water.

Leaves may look simple, but they are extraordinarily sophisticated structures – capturing energy from sunlight and forming a vital part of the processes that support almost all life on Earth.

Bring a selection of leaves from your garden, local park or countryside and see what they reveal under the microscope. Beginners, visitors and experienced microscopists are all welcome at this practical Northamptonshire Natural History Society microscopy meeting at the Humfrey Rooms, Northampton
