Photography

We are the longest established photographic society in Northamptonshire, founded in 1895. The photography section meets Wednesday evenings at the Humfrey Rooms. Doors open at 7:45pm with the meetings starting at 8:00pm. All photographic subjects are covered in our meetings.

We aim to help everybody improve and enjoy their photography by sharing knowledge and expertise. Through informal lectures, demonstrations, workshops and competitions, with a bias towards digital, covering the acquisition, processing and final display of the image.

A warm welcome is offered by all our members. Their interests cover most formats and methods, including traditional mono and colour printing, slides, and Digital Imaging using computers and inkjet printers. We cover all photographic subjects at our meetings including, portraiture, pictorial, abstract, natural history, and landscapes.

Competition Rules

A maximum of three entries per member, per round

Cornwall Cup natural history images must comply with the PAGB rules 2018 for natural history photographs

The deadline for entries to be submitted to the competition secretary is midnight on the Sunday before the Wednesday of the competition

Digital entries can be either jpg or tiff format with a maximum size of ~5MB, and titled in the following manner:

        1-author-title.jpg

Digital entries may be submitted electronically by email to: compsec(at)photo.nnhs.info or by using the online submission form

Alternatively they can be submitted by CD, memory card or memory stick brought into the rooms before the Sunday deadline

Entries presented after the deadline will not be accepted.

During the COVID-19 restrictions online competitions can be voted for using the online competition voting form
