Collections – curating our legacy

The NNHS Curation Group is dedicated to caring for, documenting, and exploring the Society’s fascinating collections. These collections represent over 150 years of natural history, geology, archaeology, and local heritage.

Curation Section

Whether it’s cataloguing specimens, conserving historic material, identifying items, improving records, or simply discovering the stories behind objects collected by previous generations of naturalists, there is always something interesting to investigate.

Discover something new

No specialist knowledge is required—just curiosity, enthusiasm, and an interest in the Society’s rich heritage. Members are welcome to learn new skills, share expertise, and help preserve these important collections for future generations.

Preserve our heritage

Our curation sessions are friendly, informal, and open to all. Whether you are an experienced naturalist or completely new to the Society’s collections, you will be warmly welcomed and encouraged to explore, learn, ask questions, and contribute to preserving our shared heritage.

Connect to the past, conserve for the future

The Curation Group meets on the first and third Monday of each month at 11:00 AM at The Humfrey Rooms. New members and visitors are always welcome to come along and see what we do.
