Looking for a relaxed and friendly way to learn something new? The General Section offers a welcoming afternoon of interesting talks, lively conversation, and good company. All talks are in the daytime in Northampton in the Humfrey Rooms and a superb social way to meet people and learn about the Natural world of Northamptonshire and beyond.
We meet on the second Thursday of each month at 2:30pm in the Humfrey Rooms, where members gather to enjoy a wide variety of topics in an informal setting.
Everyone is welcome – you don’t need to be a member or an expert to come along. All visitors can attend up to three meetings before deciding to become a member. One NNHS Membership gives you access to meetings across all our different Sections, so you are free to explore as many interests as you like!
The General Section is all about variety. With no single theme, each meeting brings a different subject — from local history and wildlife to astronomy, botany, geology, and more. You never quite know what to expect, and that’s part of the appeal.
These sessions are designed to be enjoyable and accessible for everyone. Whether you’re a long-time member or joining us for the first time, you’ll find a warm welcome, engaging speakers, and plenty of opportunity to ask questions and share ideas.
After each talk, we round off the afternoon with tea, coffee, and conversation — a chance to relax, chat, and get to know fellow members.
